OBLUE International presents
High-Speed Ambulance Catamaran
The Vessel
The OBLUE MEDIC 22 is a 22-metre carbon fiber ambulance catamaran designed for 35 knots — built for a Norwegian ambulance boat operator to carry emergency medical care out of Stavanger to the populated islands of Ryfylke.
In service since June 2021, she pairs a top-modern ambulance room with two fully equipped stretcher positions with a catamaran platform chosen for stability and deck space — and her 2,000 L/min water cannon makes her a first responder when fires are out of reach from land.

Design Highlights

Twin Volvo Penta D13 engines on IPS pod drives take the MEDIC 22 to 35 knots — critical assignments reached quickly, large distances covered in a short time.
A top-modern ambulance room with two fully equipped stretcher positions and modern medical equipment — an emergency ward afloat, not just a cabin.
An efficient layout lets the ambulance room be entered quickly from both the fore and aft decks with rolling stretchers — no time lost at the quay or alongside.
A water cannon spraying 2,000 litres of seawater per minute makes the MEDIC 22 first responder when fires prove inaccessible from land — a boost for fire preparedness in Ryfylke.
On Board
The spacious ambulance room is equipped with modern medical equipment around two stretcher positions — laid out for fast, efficient handling of patients, with technical solutions chosen to save minutes.

General Arrangement

Main deck plan: the ambulance room sits amidships with two stretcher positions behind privacy curtains, entered directly from both the fore and aft decks — seating and helm forward.
In Service
Since June 2021 the MEDIC 22 has served the Ryfylke basin under a Norwegian ambulance boat operator's contract — stationed at Judaberg on Finnøy in Rogaland, a marked improvement for ambulance services across the district.
