All-Electric Fjord Sightseeing Catamaran
The Vessel
The SEASIGHT 42 is the third SEASIGHT catamaran, built for a Norwegian fjord sightseeing operator — a 42.5-metre all-electric carbon fiber sightseeing vessel running the 36-kilometre Flåm–Gudvangen route through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord.
Delivered in 2020, she follows two earlier sister vessels — a diesel-electric (2016) and the series' first all-electric ship (2018) — adding a gangway on both sides for greater operational flexibility.

Design Highlights

Two 450 kW electric motors drive Servogear Ecoflow controllable-pitch propellers through HD 220 H gearboxes — a 16-knot service speed with engine noise kept to a minimum.
A Westcon Power and Automation battery pack recharges in about twenty minutes at a 2.4 MWh floating glass-fibre quay in Gudvangen, purpose-developed for all-electric fjord operation.
All-electric operation is expected to cut CO₂ along the Flåm–Gudvangen route by as much as 700 tonnes a year — ahead of Norway's 2026 zero-emission fjord mandate.
Gangways port and starboard allow embarkation, disembarkation and charging on either side — and three conference rooms turn the vessel into an events venue underway.
On Board
Panoramic saloons on two decks, a café counter and walk-around viewing decks — every passenger rides facing the mountains of the Nærøyfjord.

General Arrangement

Main deck: enclosed panoramic saloon amidships with boarding gates port and starboard, walk-around outer deck and rescue boat aft.
In Service
Since 2020, the SEASIGHT 42 has run the 36-kilometre route between Flåm and Gudvangen — about half of it inside the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, beneath 1,800-metre mountains.
